DPS identifies two dead in SR 286 wreck near Mexican border

A single vehicle rollover collision involving a semi-truck has killed 2 people on SR 286 near milepost 13.6 according to Quentin Mehr with the Arizona Department of Public Safety. 

The accident happened at around 7:45 Wednesday night. 

The driver of the semi-truck loaded with coal, lost control of the truck.

The driver of the commercial truck was 50-year-old Gerald Calip. His two passengers were 47-year-old Carolyn Conner and an infant boy. They were from Hayward, Calif.

Gerald Calip lost control of the truck on a curve and rolled over. Neither he nor Carolyn Conner were wearing seatbelts, and the infant was in a car seat but not properly restrained. All three were ejected from the truck.

Both Gerald Calip and Carolyn Conner died. The infant survived and was airlifted to Banner University Medical Center. truck rolled on its side and off the road. Two people died at the scene from their injuries and an infant female was airlifted to Banner University Medical Center for treatment. 

Troopers are investigating the cause of the collision.
