The Salvation Army and the Gospel Rescue Mission is getting ready for their largest event of the year - Thanksgiving.
With two weeks from the main event - the shelves are bare and now they're asking for the communities help.
Both the Salvation Army and The Gospel Rescue Mission are expecting to feed nearly 6,000 people.
"Right now we're looking at 400 turkeys that we need just to fulfill our Thanksgiving need," says Cory Leith with the Salvation Army.
Victor Hightower with the Gospel Rescue Mission says they need 200 turkeys. Right now, they only have about 14.
Other donations needed include,
- 200 turkeys
- 300 pies
- Ready-to-eat rolls
- Ready-to-eat frozen or fresh pies
- Canned veggies
- Canned fruit cocktail
Turkey drives will be held on November 18, 2017 at Tucson Safeway locations,
- Grant and Silverbell (Salvation Army)
- Thornydale and Linda Vista (Gospel Rescue Mission)
If you can't make the turkey drive and want to donate to the Gospel Rescue Mission - donations can be dropped off at 312 W. 28th Street or 707 W. Miracle Mile Road.
Salvation Army donation drop offs will be at 1002 N. Main Avenue.
Monetary donations are welcomed as well.
