Northwest Fire Crews are crediting a barking dog and working smoke detectors for saving a family from a house fire near Wetmore Road and Flowing Wells Road.
Crews responded to the house around 12:30 Sunday morning. The family dog was barking in an attempt to alert a man and women inside of the fire. At the same time, a smoke detector was also going off.
When firefighters got on scene, smoke and flames were coming from one of the bedrooms. There was also a heavy amount of smoke throughout the entire home. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to that one room before spreading - getting the blaze under control in less than a half hour.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
The Northwest Fire Community Assistance Team is on scene assisting the residents that were displaced.
