Dog dies from smoke inhalation in southside house fire

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Fire Department responded to multiple calls made about smoke and flames seen from the window of a house near the southside.

Crews were called out to the area of 5500 block of south White Rock Avenue around 10:53 P.M.

Upon arrival crews reported smoke coming from the area, according to TFD.

Crews were able to access the single-story home through the front door and contain the fire.

TFD say crews confirmed no one was inside after a completed search.

Crews were able to control the fire within under 19 minutes of arrival, TFD say.

There no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.

TFD say a dog died from inhalation of smoke.

The Red Cross was called for two adult men.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Tucson Fire says to practice exit drills in home, and everyone is aware of a plan and designated area to meet outside.
