A 26-year-old man connected to a homicide is dead following a deputy-involved shooting on the south side, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
He has been identified as Manuel Encinas.
At 2 a.m. on Sunday morning deputies from the Pima County Sheriff's Department responded to the Circle K at 9810 South Nogales Highway for a report of an armed robbery.
As deputies arrived, they located Encinas with a gun positioned directly behind a Circle K employee who was still inside the store.
Deputies say Encinas ordered the employee to exit the store as he closely followed.
As both came outside the employee ran for safety toward a deputy near the south end of the building.
Deputies say Encinas then presented a gun and was then fatally shot by deputies.
The Circle K employee involved and deputies involved in the incident were not injured.
