TUCSON (KGUN9-TV)  - Deputies are searching for a man who assaulted a woman on the eastside.

Pima County Sheriff Deputy Courtney Rodriguez said a woman was walking near the 9800 block of East Snyder Road when she was assaulted just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 21.

The woman told deputies she saw the same vehicle pass her two to four times.  Initially, she thought it was someone who was lost and looking for a particular address.

Rodriguez said the woman still thought the driving behavior was suspicious, so she began walking on the dirt portion of the road to get further from the vehicle. She says she then saw the vehicle make a U-turn and approach her from behind.

When the vehicle stopped, a man got out of the car, ran toward her, and physically assaulted her, said Rodriguez. The woman then began screaming, which startled the suspect sending him fleeing in his car.

The victim did not sustain any significant injuries, said Rodriguez.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian, approximately 6'0" tall, 230 pounds, with reddish-blonde hair
  • Last seen wearing a red University of Arizona shirt and jeans.
  • Driving a dark-green, older (possible 1990's) Chevrolet Sports Utility Vehicle

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
