TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Over the years, Pima County deputies have helped keep the public safe from cats, dogs, emus, kangaroos and now pigs.
Earlier this week, Deputy Cody Bierman and Deputy Nicole Crowson came across an elderly man being chased down by a pig on Sandario Road, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department Facebook post.
With a quick reaction, Deputy Bierman immediately jumped between the charging pig and the elderly man.
The allowed the elderly man enough time to run to safety.
A passerby was able to provide the deputies with a tie-down and they were able to leash the pig.
Deputy Bierman called Wild Hearts Animal Rescue, who responded and transported the pig to the Ironwood Pig Sanctuary.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department would like to thank Deputy Bierman and Deputy Crowson for their quick thinking leading to a safe and happy outcome.
