Pinal County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 34-year-old San Tan Valley woman, saying she smoked marijuana with her kids and their friends, whose ages ranged between 11 and 16.
Deputies arrested Jillian Hughes after a 14-year-old girl said Hughes offered her marijuana during a sleepover.
"This case should be shocking to the community for the blatant disregard this mother had for her children’s’ well-being," said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. "This woman was supposed to be protecting her kids from the dangers of drugs, but instead, provided her own kids and their friends with drugs and allegedly used drugs with her kids."
Deputies searched Hughes' home and found two children, ages 11 and 12, sleeping in a hall closet. Hughes told deputies she thought the kids were at school.
Charges have yet to be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
