Davis-Monthan Air Force Base pumped $1.5 billion dollars into the Tucson economy last year, according to the Financial Office of the 355th Comptroller Squadron.
The base employed more than 10,000 military and civilian jobs for a combined payroll of $597 million dollars.
D-M also created nearly 5000 indirect jobs worth $195 million dollars.
There are also 20,000 military retirees in Tucson who have an annual retirement pay of $521 million dollars.
