Cumero fire burning southeast of Sasabe

A wildfire is burning along the U.S. and Mexico border southeast of Sasabe.

According to Heidi Schewel with the Coronado National Forest, the Cumero fire is 3.825 acres in size since starting on July, 5. The fire is 40 percent contained.

Firefighters are working to suppress the fire and aerial resources are assigned.

Schewel says that multiple structures are threatened including Garcia Ranch and communication towers.

The fire is burning in grass with a high rate of spread.
