Crews from the Northwest Fire District saved six dogs after a house fire on West Wetmore Road on Tuesday morning.

Just after 11 a.m. Northwest Fire received a 9-1-1 call for a report of a house fire in the 1500 block of West Wetmore.

As crews got on scene they found smoke coming from multiple areas of the home.

Capt. Brian Keeley, a spokesman for the district, said the homeowners evacuated the home before firefighters arrived but told crews that seven dogs were in the house.

Firefighters located six of the seven dogs unharmed. Keeley said the seventh has not been located yet but was not found in the house.

A total of 22 firefighters responded to the house fire and were able to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

Investigators are on scene looking into what caused the fire.

The Northwest Fire Community Assistance team will be helping the homeowners who will be temporarily displaced.

There is not yet an estimate on damages at this time.
