Firefighters put out a brush fire that spread to a southside motel Tuesday night.

According to Tucson Fire, no one was injured. Crews were on scene at 11:21 p.m. and had the fire under control within 16 minutes.

The initial call reported a brush fire near a two-story motel in the 1000 block of East Benson Highway. The blaze spread to the motel, and smoke and flames started shooting out of a bottom floor room and a second floor landing. Nine units, including 23 firefighters, contained the blaze with multiple hoses.

Investigators are trying to determine if the room was occupied, as well as what caused the blaze.
