TUCSON, Ariz. — A crash at the intersection of Grant Road and Alvernon Way is snarling traffic in midtown Tucson, and one person is injured.

The Tucson Police Department says westbound traffic on Grant is closed between Alvernon and Columbus Boulevard, and could stay shut down for at least several hours while traffic detectives investigate.

Police say a pedestrian was jaywalking southbound across Grant and was hit by a westbound vehicle.

One person involved in the crash was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries that are considered life-threatening.

TPD say that the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident and that it is unkown if speed was a factor.

There's no word yet on other injuries so far.
