UPDATE (11:13 a.m., Sept. 10):

Tucson Police have identified the motorcyclist who died as 19-year-old Nicholas Daniel Perez.

According to a news release from TPD, Perez was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle south on North Campbell Avenue, above the posted speed limit, when he collided with a northbound Hyundai sedan attempting to turn left onto University Boulevard.

The Kawasaki and sedan collided, and Perez was ejected. The driver of the Hyundai remained on scene. Tucson Police determined the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash. Perez was wearing a helmet, TPD said.

The Hyundai's failure to yield while making a left turn and Perez's speed were the major contributing factors of the crash, the news release said.
