Corrido competition winners to perform at YMCA

The winners of the 2016 University of Arizona Corrido competition will perform at the YMCA today, according to a press release. 

The UA Poetry Center has held a bilingual Corrido contest for Arizona high school students for the past 15 years. 

The contest is now managed by UA Department of Mexican American Studies in partnership with the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Confluencenter for Creative Inquiry and DEL Records.

There were more than 350 entries from schools throughout Southern Arizona. 

The top three winners who will be presenting are Marylu Quintero of Nogales High School, Yuliza Arvizu also of Nogales High and Arianna Cruz of Rio Rico High School. 

This event is free and open to the public. 

The presentation will take place from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at YMCA of Tucson located at 525 N. Bonita Avenue.
