TUCSON, Ariz. - The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona will offer emergency food boxes to furloughed government workers.

Those in need can pick up a food box at the Food Bank warehouse, 3003 S. Country Club Road, as well as partner agencies around Southern Arizona.

According to the organization, mobile food distribution services have dropped off food to nearly 300 federal prison employees in Tucson.

The organization is asking for an end to the government shutdown.

"We are here to serve federal employees who are working without pay. The issues surrounding the shutdown are divisive, yet I think we can agree that families need food. The Community Food Bank is here to help. Your support of the Community Food Bank has never been more important,” said Community Food Bank CEO Michael McDonald in a statement.
