TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Air Force is considering Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson as a potential site to house expanded operations of remotely piloted drones.
The Air Combat Command announced Thursday it plans to approximately double the number of squadrons operating remotely piloted drones and assign drones to additional locations.
The announcement listed several possible sites for basing the units, including Davis-Monthan.
Republican Congresswoman Martha McSally of Arizona said Davis-Monthan would be a good site for the missions for several reasons, including the availability of training areas in southern Arizona.
