Cochise County Sheriffs recognized Judy Barnett and Marcy Whicher as volunteers of the year for 2017 on April 25 for their service last year.
Both gave 1,300 hours worth of their time to help deputies, according to a media release. The two work together as a team when they volunteer and have become known as the "Shredderators."
Their usual duties involve destroying confidential documents, volunteer John Black said in an email. On average, about 8 to 12 garbage bags worth. The two also help with public record requests, a task "no one cares to perform," Black said.
"They arrive once a week full of good humor and a positive attitude," he added.
