COCHISE CO., Ariz. -- The Cochise County Sheriff's Office says a woman who deputies were searching for has been found safe and is at home. Officials say she was last heard from on November 17.
CCSO were asked to conduct a welfare check on 48-year-old Dana Lynn Welch following a report on November 21.
CCSO say the reporting person told deputies Welch sent a text message that said she was being abused, held hostage, and forced to take drugs.
Officials say a computer IP track was conducted and found the text came from an area in Phoenix.
CCSO say "The reporting person advised that Ms. Welch had been living with him at his residence in Whetstone for nine months prior to him asking her to leave due to what he described as her excessive alcohol use."
The reporting person last saw Welch November 14 and the last text message was sent November 17.
On Monday, CCSO said Welch had been found alive and well at a home in Hereford. Deputies say she was not a victim of any crime and kidnapping statements were sent by her to a friend after consumption of alcohol.
