PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is conducting an exercise featuring a simulated emergency to demonstrate to a U.S. Air Force evaluation team that it is ready to respond to an actual emergency.

The CAP said in a statement that 10 single-engine planes, a drone team and a ground search-and-rescue team were included in the exercise along with incident command posts at Falcon Field in Mesa and Tucson International Airport and other personnel at airports in Phoenix, Prescott, Sierra Vista and Yuma.

According to the CAP, the exercise that began Thursday and continued into Saturday is based on a scenario involving a California earthquake that affected parts of Arizona.

Initial tasks included missions to photograph power plants and dams and provided photos to federal emergency management officials.
