TUCSON, Ariz. — Cirque du Soleil is coming to Tucson in 2020.

The performance group, known for its wildly creative costumes and daring acrobatics, is bringing its "ice spectacle" show called "AXEL" to the Tucson Convention Center for six shows between April 17-19.

Some of the performers were ice dancers for Team USA, and one of them is from Arizona.

Cirque du Soleil ice skater Karina Manta said "There's live musicians so it has that concert aspect, there's figure skating if you're a figure skating fan obviously. and if you like the classic cirque du soleil acrobatics that's there too, so there is something for everyone in our show."

A news release from Cirque du Soleil Monday described the show as an "epic fantasy" and is appropriate for all ages:

This new production features spectacular skating, breathtaking acrobatics on ice, astonishing visual effects, and live music that seamlessly integrates popular songs with a new original score.
