TUCSON, Ariz. - Former Assistant Basketball Coach, and member of the security staff, at Cienega High School plead guilty Friday to attempted sexual conduct with a student.

Seneca Turner was arrested just over one year ago for alleged sexual conduct with a minor. According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the 37-year-old had been sending explicit messages to a 17-year-old girl at the school.

Cienega High School Principal Nemer Hassey said, the school has since provided more training to its staff and has been more thorough than before.

"We have policies: board policy, Cienega policy, human resource policy, and we present those policies, rules, and regulations to every staff member through professional development, pre-service training, which is before school even starts," Hassey said.

He adds all the staff being hired are pre-screened.

"Every single staff member is finger printed, has a thorough background check, and the criminal history is checked," Hassey said.

Principal Hassey reiterates the importance of protecting the students at school.

"Student safety is a priority, and when things happen with any staff member, we're going to investigate it thoroughly, and we're going to hold people accountable," Hassey said.
