Crews are shutting down Church Avenue at Sixth Street for utility work for the next month.
The southbound lanes will be closed but northbound lanes are still open to traffic.
The work is part of a $76 million project to connect Aviation and I-10 to downtown.
Work has been going on around downtown since 2012 to add cycling paths, walkways, new and improved roads and better drainage systems so there will be less flooding when we get heavy rain.
