Christmas vandal caught on cam

Posted

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Holiday lights and decorations adorn the Rancho Valencia home of Air Force Staff Sargent Josh Rivera.

But last night at about 10-15.  "We heard a loud bang. I opened my garage and I hear this car screeching and everything," said Rivera.

Rivera checked his hidden surveillance camera installed after being vandalized a year ago. It caught the heartless Christmas vandal in action yanking the lights. "I see (on video) him jump up to grab one of these and he starts pulling it and I guess he didn't think it was going to pull down that much and it came down here to all the way to this corner."

But why didn't the vandal finish the job? Why did he suddenly sprint off? Remember that loud bang? "I'm pretty sure that scared him off," said Rivera.

Rivera reported it to law enforcement and he hopes someone can identify the vandal so he doesn't strike again. "I just want to be able to help other residents in this area protect themselves," said Rivera.

KGUN9 contacted the Pima County Sheriff's Department about this and a deputy tells me that homeowner was smart. He did exactly what he needed to do. Install a hidden surveillance camera to help catch these Christmas criminals in the act.
