As thousands of teachers marched in Phoenix to the Arizona State Capitol Thursday afternoon, charter school teachers in southern Arizona showed their support.
Academy Del Sol gave its staff the opportunity to not come in to teach on Thursday.
However, the school's director Jason Riegert said all staff came into work and showed support to teachers in their own way.

"Our students have all decided to wear red instead of their normal uniform clothes," said Riegert. "Our staff is all wearing red and we are doing something special for our kids and bringing everyone together here at the school."
A teacher at Basis Tucson North said many of their teachers went to the state capitol Thursday to march, while some stayed in Tucson.
Trudi Connolly, a teacher at Basis Tucson North, says a group of staff members held up signs this morning and wore red to show support.
"When education is underfunded that affects all of us," said Connolly. "We both support the particular desires and needs of public school teachers and we believe in the bigger picture this affects us too."
Connolly said Basis teachers are rallying again until about 6:30 p.m.
Basis schools were closed Thursday.
