A ribbon ceremony will take place at Jesse Owens Park Saturday morning debuting improvements to the park.

The park has received improvements to both ball fields and playground facilities.

It’s been decades since this park has had the investment that it needs, said Ward 2 Council Member Paul Cunningham. We are on the way to having the gem that the neighbors who use this park deserve.

According to the City of Tucson, $2 million was spent to improve the park, half was used on an updated irrigation system.

The irrigation upgrades are crucial, said Brent Dennis, director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Tucson. We have a modern system that will pay off in less waste of water and greener playgrounds and ball fields.

The ceremony takes place at 10:00 a.m. near the playground area on the west side of the park. The park's address is 400 S Sarnoff Dr, Tucson, AZ 85710.
