In a trio of separate incidents, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a U.S. citizen and two Mexican nationals after they allegedly tried to smuggle nearly 80 pounds of cocaine and meth through the Port of Nogales.
On Friday at the DeConcini crossing, officers arrested 32-year-old Nogales, Son. resident Yesika Guadalupe Ayala-Valenzuela after allegedly finding more than 36 pounds of meth in her Buick sedan.
On Saturday at the DeConcini crossing, officers arrested 24-year-old Phoenix resident Olga Arisdelsy after finding nearly 25 pounds of meth hidden in her Mercury sedan.
On Sunday at the Mariposa crossing, officers arested 48-year-old Nogales, Son. resident Ricardo Montijo-Salazar after allegedly finding 18 pounds of meth and half a pound of cocaine hidden in his Dodge truck.
Officers seized all drugs and turned the suspects over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
