Customs and Border Protection Officers arrested a 72-year-old Mexican national on Monday after he attempted to smuggle nearly 74 pounds of cocaine and methamphetamine through the Port of Nogales, according to a press release.
The man, a legal permanent resident of the U.S., had his truck inspected at the Dennis DeConcini crossing.
Officers found more than 71 pounds of methamphetamine worth in excess of $214,000 and also located nearly two-and-a-half pounds of cocaine worth almost $28,000.
The vehicle and drugs were seized by officers and the subject was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
