TUCSON, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a woman after they seized over 13 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine.
A 23-year-old Caborca, Sonora, Mexico woman was stopped in her Mercedes SUV before entering the U.S. on Friday morning.
A canine dog was on the site and detected an odor from the vehicle. Officers discovered over one pound of heroin, and more than 12 pounds of methamphetamine.
The drugs together were estimated to be worth over $60,000.
Officers at Arizona’s Port of Lukeville, arrested the woman and she was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
Both the drugs and the vehicle have been seized.
Individuals can be charged by complaint, allowed by Federal law.
