TUCSON, Ariz. — Carondelet Hospitals held their annual nativity blessing Wednesday -- a Christmas tradition at the Catholic hospitals that goes back decades.

At St. Mary's Hospital, chaplains blessed the nativity statues while hospital staff sang Christmas carols. The staff says it's a way to highlight the Catholic roots of Carondelet, which has been serving Tucson for more than 100 years.

"I think it's a great part of our unity, and also remembering our shared heritage and our shared values that inspire the motives behind the work that we do, no matter what service you provide within our hospitals," Travis Williams of St. Mary's said.

Hospital staff also enjoyed cookies and hot cocoa before returning to work.
