Carondelet Health Network broke ground Thursday on a new microhospital being built in Marana.

Carondelet's microhospital is part of a larger commercial complex being built at Cortaro Farms Rd. and I-10.

The microhospital will have a 14-bed emergency department, two operating rooms, and eight inpatient rooms.

Officials say they'll have about 50 full-time employees.

Carondelet CEO Mark Benz and Marana Vice Mayor Jon Post spoke at Thursday's groundbreaking.

The 32,500 sq. ft. hospital is set to open in the spring of 2019.
