A car wash was held Saturday to raise awareness in honor of Marilynn Pacheco who was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend July 1.
Pima County Sheriff's deputies say Marilynn Pacheco was shot by her ex-boyfriend Mateo Zavala while she was traveling on I-19 near Green Valley.
Pacheco's mother spoke with us about the impact the tragedy has made on her, and how she hopes it will help others who are in similar situations.
Susan Stemper, Marilynn's mother, says, "Maybe her story will be heard by the person that needs to hear it so that they can get themselves out of a bad situation before it ends like this. I think we just don't believe that this could possibly happen in our family, but it can. I am still struggling with, that this is my daughter."
