Two men die in crash near Broadway and Sarnoff

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department responded to a serious-injury crash involving two passenger vehicles near the Broadway Boulevard and Sarnoff Drive Monday.

TPD say one driver involved in the crash died on the scene who has been identified as 57 year-old Alejo Carrillo Madueno.

Detectives determined a black 2004 Chevy Suburban was traveling eastbound on Broadway as the vehicle approached the red light at Sarnoff it collided with the driver of a a white 1998 Chevy Lumina.

TPD say The Lumina was traveling north making a left turn onto Broadway.

The crash moved both vehicle east.

Police say The Lumina came to a rest on the median on the east side of the intersection.

The Lumina was occupied by a male driver and male passenger.

Police say the passenger of The Lumina was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The driver of the Chevy Suburban was not reported injured and did stay on scene.

Police say DUI enforcement was called to scene and determined the driver of the Chevy Suburban was impaired at the time.

Police say speed does appear to be a factor.

No charges or citations have been issued at this time.

The investigation is still ongoing.
