TUCSON, Ariz. — It's a tradition nearly 20 years in the making and people of all ages who give The Mount Lemmon General Store's homemade fudge a taste, the reaction is always the same.

"Hmm, it's delicious," Tucson resident Cindy Storey said.

The general store is known for it's fudge, and on a normal weekend they make about 200 pounds.

"We probably make at least twice as much fudge this weekend as opposed to as we in a normal weekend," Store Owner Grey Carpenter said. "Somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 pounds. We will sell all the fudge this weekend. We're hoping that we don't have to make extra fudge like tonight or tomorrow night."

It's not just the fudge that has people making their way up Catalina Highway to Mount Lemmon, many are also taking advantage of the lower temperatures.

"We just needed a break from the heat and a break from life and a change of scenery," Storey said.

All across the mountain, camp sites were full and parking lots were filled, so businesses in Summerhaven are thriving.

"All the businesses up here benefit from everybody visiting," Carpenter said. "It's like the last big push of the summer and we really appreciate it when people come up a visit."
