A motorcyclist has died after a crash near Broadway and Chantilly near Park Place Mall.
The motorcyclist has been identified as 37-year-old Robert Adair. The collision happened around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Broadway was blocked off from Chantilly to the mall entrance and westbound lanes were shut down to Wilmot.
Sgt. Kimberly Bay with TPD says traffic reopened before 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
Tucson Police say the driver of a 1994 Buick Century was heading eastbound on Broadway in the left turn lane. As the car was turning into the parking lot on the north side of the road, the car was struck by a motorcycle going westbound on Broadway.
TPD says witnesses saw the motorcyclist weaving in and out of traffic and was speeding before the crash. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. Detectives believe the motorcycle rider's speed and alcohol impairment may have been a factor in the crash.
There were two adults in the car involved and neither of them were hurt. No citations have been issued.
There have been 6 motorcycle fatalities in Tucson this year. According to TPD there were three in 2015.
