Nogales Border Patrol arrested 3 United States citizens for smuggling methamphetamine and other controlled substances at the I-19 checkpoint on June 6.
Agents stopped a vehicle for a secondary inspection after dogs were alerted to the car during an immigration inspection. Agents then searched the driver and two passengers.
They noticed suspicious bundles in the male passenger's socks and found other bundles concealed on his body after another search. The bundles contained meth.
A search of the female passenger revealed a mixture of drugs, including marijuana, cyclobenzaprine, methamphetamine and amitriptyline, hidden under her clothing.
Both passengers and the driver of the vehicle have been submitted for prosecution for drug smuggling.
