TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man has been arrested after his girlfriend's 2-year-old son was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition after being allegedly abused, according to Pima County Sheriff's Department.
Deputy Ryan Inglett said 38-year-old Peter John Schmidtfranz was arrested for one count of Child Abuse and booked into Pima County Jail.
Inglett said on Sunday, November 29 at 8:40 p.m. deputies responded to the 3400 block of West Sagebrush Hills Court for a report of an unresponsive child. When deputies arrived the boy needed immediate medical attention due to injuries on his head, said Inglett.
He was transported to Banner University Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition as of Wednesday night.
