Border Patrol agents seize marijuana, handgun

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A border patrol agent was assaulted during a drug seizure involving six smugglers with 300 pounds of marijuana, according to U.S. Border Patrol.

The agent came across six people who were carrying large packs of narcotics. When the agent asked about the packs, one person became aggressive making the agent use pepper spray.

The agent was able to catch three of the people and seize 300 pounds of marijuana, valued at $150,000.

In another incident, agents spotted 13 people using a camera who were carrying large packs of marijuana. Agents responded to the area and were able to catch the suspects and 514 pounds of marijuana.

Agents working the I-19 checkpoint arrested two men, a U.S.. citizen and a Mexican national. They found six pounds of methamphetamine during a car inspection. A narcotics dog found the drugs in the vehicles engine compartment. Agents seized the drugs and vehicle.

Two additional U.S. citizens were arrested for smuggling three illegal aliens. The driver was in possession of a handgun.
