MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Bond is set at $7,500 for a man accused of driving a stolen car that burst into flames in Mesa following a police pursuit.
Authorities say 19-year-old Christian Eric Cook was arrested after Tuesday morning's incident that ended in a dirt lot near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.
Cook is been held on suspicion of theft of means of transportation, unlawful flight from law enforcement, displaying a fake license plate and driving with a suspended license.
He doesn't have a lawyer yet.
In September, Cook and two others were arrested for allegedly using a slingshot to fire rocks at pedestrians and vehicles on Interstate 10. Authorities didn't link them to other freeway shootings.
Maricopa County prosecutors have yet to file charges against Cook in the slingshot incident, asking investigators for more information.
