TUCSON, Ariz. — The body of a tribal law enforcement officer from Navajo County is arrived at the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday morning.
White Mountain Apache Tribe officer David Kellywood was killed while responding to a shots fired call near a casino in Pinetop at around 1 a.m.
Police say Officer Kellywood was the first to arrive on scene when he found the suspect, who immediately engaged in a physical altercation. That's when Kellywood was shot. Another officer arrived shortly thereafter and fatally shot the suspect.

Officials said Officer Kellywood graduated from the academy in May 2019 and had been on the job for about nine months. He was 26 years old and leaves behind a wife and two young children.
