Cochise County Sheriff's deputies identified the body of a man found in a power plant's coal chute in June as a 21-year-old Devon Lee Ward, a California soldier stationed at Fort Bliss.

Deputies say the body was found at 12:30 a.m. June 27 at the Apache Generating Station near Cochise, Ariz. Workers found the body when they investigated a malfunctioning coal rotary plow, finding partial skeletal bones and decomposing body parts.

According to the Pima County Medical Examiner, the body may have been in a coal train before being dumped into the coal chute.

Deputies continue to investigate the death.
