Bishop Weisenburger led his first official mass in Tucson

TUCSON (KGUN 9-TV) - A new era for the catholic church has arrived with the appointment of Bishop Weisenburger.

He is the seventh bishop in the history of the diocese and so far he says he has been welcomed by everyone.

"What matters is that we have a wonderful history in the diocese and I'm now here and I'm excited about being here, I feel very blessed to be here and I'm anxious to get to work."

The bishop says he has many goals he would like to pursue but at the same time understands it may take time for all of them to flourish.

"Every prudent bishop always takes one to two years because it really takes that long, you can't rush it."
