TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department is investigating a deadly hit and run involving a bicycle near southside Friday morning.
Police were called out to the area of East 27th Street and South Park Avenue for a report about a serious injury crash involving a bicyclist.
Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and attempted to render aid.
TFD took the adult man to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, he died there shortly after.
Police have identified the bicyclist as 45- year-old Eric Michael Noriega.
Detectives determined Noriega was on his bicycle northbound on Park Avenue in the bike lane.
Police say a vehicle hit Noriega on his bike from behind and continued without stopping.
Police say "The suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup truck similar in style to a Ford Ranger, was also northbound on Park Avenue."
Police say Noriega was not wearing a helmet.
Detectives say speed does appear to be a factor.
The investigation is ongoing.
No charges or citations have been issued at this time.
