A bat from inside Grand Canyon National Park has tested positive for rabies.
Park officials said Friday that the bat was found on Aug. 31 in Phantom Ranch.
The animal did not come in contact with any humans but park visitors have reported an uptick in interaction with bats.
Visitors say they have seen more bats near the river.
Officials are warning anyone who comes in physical contact with a bat to seek medical treatment.
Rabies can be deadly if medical treatment is not given before the development of symptoms.
Animals with rabies can pass it to people through saliva such as a scratch or a bite.
