TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Phoenix-based Banner Health is planning to open a new hospital and clinic in Tucson.
The $500 million Banner Hospital will stand west of the existing Banner-University Medical Center. Construction crews are at work now prepping land for the 670,000-square-foot-nine story hospital tower.
Banner has been referring to the new hospital as a replacement for the existing one. It is the only academic medical center in Southern Arizona.
A Diamond's Children's and Emergency Department will be apart of the new building. It is expected to open in 2019.
