AZ Game and Fish offering reward in Javelina poaching case

Posted

Arizona Game and Fish is offering a reward for information about who shot and killed a javelina on the south side on June 7th.

According to the department, the shooting was an act of illegal poaching.

Now, they're offering a $1,500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the shooter.

“Poachers are criminals. They are thieves who steal wildlife from Arizona citizens,” said Regional Supervisor Raul Vega of Game and Fish in Tucson.  “This appears to be a crime of opportunity or a case of trying to get rid of a nuisance. Either way, it’s illegal.”

Anyone with information can call 1-800-352-0700 and use case number OGT#18-002050.

Last year, citizens reporting poaching resulted in $74,500 worth of fines.
