TUCSON, Ariz. — Authorities say they're not sure how a woman with down syndrome died after recovering her remains in the desert near Picture Rocks, Arizona, earlier this year.
The newly released autopsy report of 38-year-old Sarah Galloway indicates Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies were only able to recover skeletal remains on Feb. 12. They did not find any clothing or personal effects with the remains.
The Pima County Medical Examiner's office was able to identify her via dental records. The skeletal remains also had a metal plate surgically installed in the leg, consistent with Galloway's medical history.

With no discernible trauma to Galloway's remains, the Pima County Medical Examiner's office ultimately ruled her cause of death as undetermined.
Galloway first went missing in March 2019. Her last known location was only about a mile away from where her remains were ultimately discovered months later.
