Authorities target supplier of overdose drugs

Posted

Pinal County authorities say they're going after whoever supplied drugs involved in recent suspected overdose deaths.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports Sheriff Mark Lamb and County Sheriff Ken Volkmer told an Eloy civic group on Thursday that the opioid epidemic likely has claimed four lives in the past two months in Pinal County.

Investigators are trying to determine whether the deaths are linked to fentanyl, a deadly street drug, and Lamb said the investigation includes trying to identify the supplier so he or she can be prosecuted.

The offices are working with the Pinal County Medical Examiner's Office to identify the specific drug or drugs involved.
