MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in western Arizona have learned the identity of a person whose skull was found in the desert.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that the skull belonged to 68-year-old Ilaisa V. Vaitai. He had been reporting missing in Ontario, California, in May 2017.
The sheriff's office says a hiker found the skull more than a year ago in Mohave Valley.
It was sent to the University of North Texas for a DNA analysis, and the university found a match last month.
The sheriff's office says it doesn't suspect foul play in Vaitai's death.
