Authorities have identified a New York state resident who died on Interstate 40 after he rolled the tractor-trailer he was driving.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says 23-year-old Jatinder Singh died early Tuesday morning.

DPS spokesman Bart Graves says Singh lived in Richmond, New York. The agency had reached out to the Indian embassy to notify his family.

Graves says Singh overcorrected when his vehicle drifted to the left around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, causing it to roll on its side. The vehicle took out about 200 feet of the guardrail.

A passenger asleep in the vehicle's cab survived.

That rollover and another crash shortly after in the same area snarled traffic on eastbound I-40 near Flagstaff for several hours Tuesday.
